My personal path to natural healing and managing Multiple Sclerosis symptoms

Can you truly influence your health when living with a chronic diagnosis?

When I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at age 25, I thought my life was over. I was terrified, exhausted, and felt betrayed by my own body. Today, at 51, I am living proof that another path is possible. By focusing on nervous system regulation, clean eating, and reducing self-imposed stress, I have reclaimed my life.

In this first post, I want to share the foundation of how I moved from a state of chronic illness to functioning more or less normally today.

My Path to MS Recovery: The Three Pillars

Healing from a complex condition like MS requires a holistic approach. Through my journey, I discovered three essential pillars that allowed my body to find its way back to balance.

1. Nervous System Regulation for MS

Most people focus only on the physical symptoms of MS, but the nervous system is the commander of the body. I realized that my body was stuck in a "fight or flight" mode. By learning how to regulate my nervous system, I lowered the internal inflammation and created an environment where healing could actually occur.

2. Anti-Inflammatory Nutrition and Clean Food

"Clean eating" isn't just a trend; for me, it was medicine. I shifted my focus to a diet that supports neurological health. By removing inflammatory triggers, I gave my immune system a much-needed break. Today, I know exactly which foods keep my symptoms away and which ones to avoid to prevent flares.

3. Ending the Cycle of Self-Pressure

We often underestimate the impact of our own minds. I used to be my own harshest critic, constantly pushing myself beyond my limits. Learning to slow down and release the intense internal pressure was a turning point. Mental health is physical health, especially when dealing with an autoimmune condition.

Living with MS at 51: What Life Looks Like Now

People often ask if I am "cured." While I still carry the diagnosis, I live a virtually normal life. If I experience minor symptoms today, they serve as a compass—telling me when I’ve strayed from my nutrition or let my stress levels rise too high.

I have gone from being a patient to being the CEO of my own wellbeing.
